Newport, Oregon, February 2010 - Nothing says “bor-ing” like champagne, jewelry and teddy bears on Valentine’s Day. But what else is there?

How about this? Rogue has brewed up a solution to this nagging question with Rogue Chocolate Stout. The perfect gift for both him and her on Valentine’s Day.

Ebony in color with a rich creamy head, the mellow flavor of oats, chocolate malts and imported Dutch chocolate are balanced perfectly with the right amount of hops for a bitter-sweet finish. A flavor that lets Rogue Chocolate Stout take the place of expensive champagne on a candle-lit dinner table.

Chocolate Stout was created when Rogue Brewmaster John Maier took Rogue’s World Champion Shakespeare Stout, named the “Best of 1500 Beers” by Bob Klein in the Beer Lover’s Rating Guide, and added the imported Dutch chocolate. Since its debut, it has received world-wide acclaim and over 18 awards.

Chocolate Stout is dedicated to Sebbie Buhler, a Rogue original with 17 years of dedicated service to the revolution. Her gourmet passion takes her all over the United States; she’s an icon in the beer and food industries.

Sebbie keeps a blog about Choclate Stout: roguechocolatestout.blogspot.com. Chocolate Stout is available is available nationwide and in select countries in 22 oz bottles and on draft year round; and a limited release “valentine red” serigraphed bottle is available in January and February.

In August, Rogue will release its Double Chocolate Stout, one of three unique beers in the Rogue Double Series. Double Chocolate Stout won a silver medal at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival.

Chocolate Stout is brewed with 11 ingredients including; imported Dutch bittersweet chocolate; Northwest Harrington & Klages, Crystal 135-165 and Beeston chocolate malts; Cascade and Rogue Farm Willamette hops; rolled oats and roasted barley; free range costal waters and top fermenting Pacman yeast.
